OUR PRODUCTS

At SPEL, we supply a range of grades of aggregate used for a variety of applications. The Studley Park Quarry rock deposit is of volcanic origin, Andesite which is only found on the island of Tobago. This rock has the following Engineering Properties which make it superior to aggregate from Trinidad or aggregate imported from overseas:

  • Hardness – 7 (Mohs scale)

  • LA Abrasion – 20.6

  • Aggregate Impact Value – 13.0

  • Sulphate Soundness – < 12 %

  • Flakiness Index – 13

  • Elongation – < 2:1

  • Bulk density – 2.8 t /m³

12mm Aggregate

12mm aggregate is used as part of asphalt design for paving.

19mm Aggregate

9.5mm and 19mm aggregate are best mixed in a 1:1 ratio which is used to load blocks or mixed with bitumen for road paving.

2mm Aggregate

2mm aggregate is sand. Its recommended application is as an additive to a cement mix for plastering.

Boulders

Boulders are primarily used for coastal protection.

Crusher Run

Crusher Run is excellent as a sub base for roads and can be used as material for backfilling.

Mixed Aggregate

Mixed Aggregate is versatile and should be used for casting areas such as foundations or driveways.

Rotten Rock

Rotten Rock is used as backfill for erosion control or for domestic purposes such as driveways.
